“Empathy is at the heart of design.” — an IDEO Principle
I hold a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and before transitioning into UX, I worked in retail management at Dillard’s, where I led teams of up to 20 employees, designed visual displays, and organized promotional events. Those experiences taught me how to lead with empathy, think strategically, and balance creativity with structure — skills I now bring into my work as a designer.
I was drawn to UX because it combines creativity with logic. With my background in psychology, I’ve always been fascinated by understanding people and their behavior — and as someone who’s always loved art and design, UX felt like the perfect intersection of both worlds. What I love most is how research and creativity come together to create meaningful, human-centered experiences — and a career that offers the flexibility to be present for my son.
During my time in Designlab’s UX Academy, I discovered how much depth there is in balancing research and design. I found myself especially drawn to the UI side — working with typography, color, and visual hierarchy — while also enjoying the research process. Collecting participant data and seeing how findings often defy expectations has been both fascinating and rewarding.
Looking ahead, I see myself on a collaborative design team that values learning, feedback, and creativity. I’m excited to grow alongside other designers, contribute my unique perspective, and continue designing experiences that feel authentic, thoughtful, and human.
